
What to expect in our boxing fundamentals class at Apollo’s Boxing, at Apollo’s Boxing we have recently added a couple more boxing classes to our timetable and we are started to get asked “what should we expect in the boxing fundamentals class”!
Each boxing class at Apollo’s Boxing always follows a set structure and we always have the outcome planned in advance!
All of our boxing classes are broken down into parts designed to keep everyone not just interested but to help develop your boxing skills!
The sessions usually go like this –
Warm up – At Apollo’s Boxing in Bolton we like to make our boxing classes a full hour of boxing so even the warm up includes boxing technique. The warm up starts with boxing footwork and boxing partner drills which also emphasise footwork, we also add some basic punch correction into our warm ups!
Technique work – After the warm up we partner up our boxers into pairs and work through some more footwork drills but at this point more will be explained in regards to how to position yourself in the ring in a good place and how to position your opponent into a bad space for them. We will always teach some sort of boxing defence during this boxing technique part of the boxing fundamentals class.
Conditioning – At this part of the boxing class we will implement some sort of boxing fitness and conditioning for example you might complete a circuit consisting of body weight exercises and bag work or it could be an interval style conditioning circuit where you will complete and exercise for a set amount of time with a set amount of rest.
Finisher – The finisher to the session is usually something to get your heart rate up for example an interval punch out on the punch bags or some sort of competition with your partner for example who can complete a set amount of exercises the fastest!
Cool down – Flexibility – At the end of each boxing class at Apollo’s Boxing we always finish with a good flexibility routine to cool down the boxers and also to help prevent any injuries from training.
All of the boxing classes and boxing one to ones down at Apollo’s Boxing are structured and planned in advance, we don’t wing the sessions and make them up on the spot they are planned in advance and using our experience plan them to suit your individual training goals!
